Since launching Excel, Mr. Amin has overseen the acquisition of more than $250 Million of hotel and hotel debt instruments, and has completed numerous multi-million dollar hotel renovation projects. His expertise includes extensive acquisition experience, litigation strategy, and asset management leading to the repositioning of numerous hotel assets. Shoham oversees the portfolio’s growth and overall risk strategy, capital planning, due diligence, development and acquisition.

Prior to launching Excel, he spent nearly two years partnering with Delshah Capital, a boutique distressed real estate private equity firm based in Manhattan, leading their acquisitions team as Vice President. While at Delshah Capital he helped the firm source and acquire in excess of $150 Million of distressed loans and commercial real estate assets from various lenders and helped lead the litigation strategy to create an optimal resolution. His prior ventures include the acquisition, ground up construction and gut renovation of residential and hotel assets in the Northeast. Prior to starting his own firm, he worked with the Acquisition and Development group at Sunrise Senior Living. Shoham has an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters in Real Estate Finance from New York University. His prior education and degrees come from George Washington University, University of Virginia, and City University of London.

DAN LINDAN LIN, Vice President – Asset Management

Dan Lin leads the Asset Management functions at Excel Group. He is an accomplished hotel asset manager with well-rounded experience in value enhancement, market positioning, valuation, and due diligence. Prior to joining Excel Group, Mr. Lin asset managed a $300M portfolio at Host Hotels & Resorts, and while at hotelAVE, he was asset manager in a variety of distressed or non-stabilized situations, including receivership, foreclosure, and new property launch; he also asset managed a large select service portfolio (primarily secondary/tertiary markets).

Mr. Lin has extensive experience in developing strategic plans, underwriting ROI / repositioning projects, capital planning, and working closely with management teams to achieve targeted benchmark goals in market share, revenue, cost and margins. Through his experience at hotelAVE, Host Hotels, and HVS International, Dan has developed a broad background in multiple U.S. markets as well as Canada and Europe, covering various brands and property types – urban / suburban / resort; select service / upper upscale / luxury. He is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and is a Certified Hotel Asset Manager (CHAM).

Benjamin HurBENJAMIN HUR, Vice President – Finance & Accounting

Ben leads the Financial Accounting, Cash Management, and Treasury functions at Excel Group. He has been an accounting executive in the hospitality industry for more than 10 years with some of the top management companies in the country: including Pyramid Hotel Group, HEI Hotels & Resort, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. Mr. Hur’s experience includes overseeing portfolio of hotels as Corporate and Regional Controller where responsible for providing operational support and financial leadership. his experience also includes leading various hotel acquisition, and transition projects where he was fully responsible for implementation of standard operating procedures and financial systems. Ben has reported to numerous privately held and publicly traded ownership groups; this attribute allows him to fully understand investor’s return on investment goals and operation model that adheres maximum efficiency and productivity. Ben holds Masters in Accounting from University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and also a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.


Jeff leads the firms development and project management functions at Excel Group. He is a versatile development, asset management and construction professional with experience in the hospitality, multi-family, residential, and retail real estate sectors. Mr. Bartholomew has proven success in driving complex projects to completion while ensuring high quality outcomes, cost control and guest/resident satisfaction. Prior to joining Excel Group he worked with Lendlease, one of the nation’s largest commercial real estate development and construction companies as a Development Manager overseeing the $2.0 Billion PAL program consisting of the installation of over 14,000 rooms over 41 US Army bases. His responsibilities included overseeing the new construction of various hotels to major hotel rehabilitation projects. Prior to Lendlease, Jeff worked for various firms including Price Waterhouse Coopers, IBM Consulting and Zapolski + Rudd in the both the development and finance roles. He is an MBA graduate from the University of North Carolina and a BA in Economics graduate from Cornell University.

ROBERT BREWERROBERT BREWER, Director, Acquisitions and Development

Robert is responsible for all acquisitions and dispositions at Excel Group. With over six years of hotel real estate experience, Robert has orchestrated over $600 million in hotel transactions. Prior to Excel Group, Mr. Brewer was a Senior Associate at GFI Hospitality, a New York-based hotel investment, development and asset management firm where he assisted in growing the firm’s portfolio. There he was responsible for the firm’s investment efforts, including evaluation and underwriting of all hotel investments and acquisitions, hotel dispositions, partner relationship management and debt and equity fundraising. Prior to GFI Hospitality, Robert was a Senior Analyst at Ernst & Young on the Transaction Real Estate team, where he provided due diligence, strategic advisory and valuation services across all real estate classes to a worldwide client basis. At Ernst & Young, Robert specialized in hotel advisory, feasibility and market analysis.

Robert graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration with a minor in Real Estate.
